Troop 64 assisted many of it's fellow neighbor's of Dayton in the clean up and repairs
after Hurricane Ike devastated much of the area.
Participated in two Flag Retirement ceremonies; one at the American Legion Hall in
Dayton and the other at Westlake Fire Department.
November 2008
Troop 64 worked with Troop 56 as flag barriers for a Veteran's Day Ceremony at the
Episcopal church in Liberty.
Night hike along the Lone Star Trail

Flag Retirement Ceremony with Troop 8 for the American Legion Post 512. This was a
very meaningful ceremony retiring many honored flags.
We staffed the kitchen and helped with programs around camp at Camp Urland for this
year's Spookoree.
Presented the American and Texas flags at the Home High School Football Games at
Bronco Stadium.

During the aftermath of Hurricane Ike Troop 64 took action into their own hands with
Relief Aid by helping out in neighboring areas. Services preformed included assisting
at the area PODs for WWJH, Westlake Fire Dept. and Kenefick Fire Dept.; reconnecting
electricity to homes; delivered food, water and ice to elderly; clearing debris from
streets and in yards; cutting trees off houses; placing blue tarps on houses and
cleaning up a church and helping to repair their roof. This is just a part of what Troop
64 assisted with during this time of need.
July 2008
Summer Camp was spent at beautiful Buffalo Trails Scout Ranch in West Texas. The
boys has a great experience at camp and we all learned a lot about each other along
the way. We had several minor cuts, blisters and bruises and one major accident with
one of our new adult leaders, Mr. James who broke his leg when he lost his balance on
top of a boulder. He had surgery and is healing fine.
May 2008
District Camporee was held again at Livingston’s Freedom Tower where the boys
learned how to climb, repel and jump from the faith pole! Thank you Troop 97 for
hosting the Camporee again this year!
Troop Garage Sale – We raised funds for Summer Camp expenses, the Garage Sale
was held at the First United Methodist Church parking lot and was very successful.
April 2008
Blake Presnull’s Eagle Court Of Honor – Blake joins the rank of Eagles of Troop 64,
congratulations!. Blake is now serving his country in the United States Navy.
DOTD – Each year Troop 64 sell ice to the vendors and service the trash pick up for
the annual Dayton Olde Tyme Days celebration. This backbreaking and tiring work is a
rewarding part of being in scouting.
March 2008
Opening Day of Softball – Troop 64 presented the US and Texas flags at the Opening
Day of Little League in Dayton. We also had a bake sale that day to raise more funds
for Summer Camp.
Easter Egg Hunt – Each year Liberty radio station KSHN sponsors an Easter Egg hunt
for the area children, Troop 64 helps out by hiding the eggs, traffic control and cleaning
up afterwards.
USS Lexington – Troop 64 had a blast on the USS Lexington, where we spent a few
nights in Corpus Christi.
